การรวมแบบ Subordination

ในการรวมแบบนป้ี ระโยคหนง่ึ จะเปน็ ประโยคหลกั (main clause) ส่วนประโยคอื่นๆ เปน็
อนุประโยค (subordinate clause) มหี น้าทีอ่ ยใู่ นประโยคหลัก โดยมสี นั ธานประเภท subordinat-
ing conjunction เป็นค�ำเช่ือมนำ� หน้าอนปุ ระโยคเหล่าน้ี ประโยคที่น�ำด้วยค�ำเช่ือมประเภทนีไ้ มใ่ ช่
ประโยคทสี่ มบรู ณ์ จะปรากฏตามล�ำพังไม่ได้ เช่น

When he arrived
Because he is angry
That he should work harder
Who came yesterday
กล่มุ คำ� เหลา่ น้ไี มใ่ ช่ประโยคท่ีสมบรู ณ์ จะต้องปรากฏกับประโยคหลกั ดงั ตัวอยา่ งต่อไปน้ี
They left when he arrived.
He refuses to speak because he is angry.
They said that he should work harder.
That is the boy who came yesterday.
อนุประโยคท่ีเกิดจากการรวมแบบ subordination มีอยู่ 3 ชนิด คือ noun clauses,
adjectival clauses และ adverbial clauses

1. Noun Clauses

อนุประโยคประเภทน้ีท�ำหน้าท่ีเช่นเดียวกับค�ำนาม คือเป็นประธาน กรรมตรง กรรมรอง
กรรมของบุพบท และ complement ดงั ตวั อยา่ งต่อไปนี้

(1) a. His story is very convincing.
b. What he told us is very convincing.
(2) a. This is his report.
b. This is what he told me.
(3) a. He told me a story.
b. He told me that he saw an accident.
(4) a. Give the janitor the letters and the parcels.
b. Give whoever opens the door the letters and the parcels.
