I Read the following passage and answer the questions that follow:
If your office is in the initial stages of office automation, the basic strategy I recommend
to you is very simple: try to use more electronics to increase the convenience of operating your
own business.
Using this strategy, you are likely to find a variety of electronic products on the market
which could improve your business efficiency. The choices you make need not be complex:
acquire a small copying machine so a certain group of secretaries can make immediate copies
without waiting; install a telephone switchboard with automatic “call forwarding” so people can
still receive their calls while visiting another office; buy an electronic typewriter so a secretary
can produce many short letters quickly.
There are a variety of electronic products on the market, some of which you already
know. Electronics are powerful. Once your office has tried electronic typewriters, for example,
no doubt you will acknowledge their convenience compared with conventional typewriters.
If you have not tried word processors in your organization, you might be losing out in an
important area of business efficiency. How about copying machines? Twenty years ago, nobody
could imagine that plain paper copiers would become so popular. Today these machines can
make many kinds of business communications surprisingly efficient. Facsimile equipment is
also extremely useful as a communication tool, particularly for graphic and text transmission.
