การลดรูปประโยค

การรวมประโยคตามที่กล่าวในเรื่องที่ 7.4.1 และ 7.4.2 ท�ำให้เกิดประโยคที่ประกอบด้วย
independent clauses หรือประกอบด้วยประโยคหลกั (main clause) และอนปุ ระโยค (subordi-
nate clause) ประโยครวมท่ีเกดิ ข้นึ อาจทำ� ให้กระชับไดโ้ ดยตัดบางสว่ นออก ส่วนท่ีจะตดั ออกได้คือ
สว่ นทซี่ ้ํากนั ในกรณขี องประโยคท่รี วมโดยใช้ coordinating conjunction สว่ นประโยคทรี่ วมด้วย

1. ประโยคที่เชื่อมด้วย Coordinating Conjunction

ประโยคประเภทน้ปี ระกอบดว้ ย independent clauses ซงึ่ มสี ่วนต่างๆ คล้ายกนั ในกรณี
ท่มี สี ่วนซํ้ากนั เช่น ประธานซํ้ากนั อาจตัดประธานในประโยคหลงั ๆ ออกได้ เชน่

(1) a. I may see you tomorrow, or I may phone later in the day.
b. I may see you tomorrow, or may phone later in the day.
(2) a. They may complain, but they haven’t said anything yet.
b. They may complain, but haven’t said anything yet.
(3) a. They can dance, and they can sing.
b. They can dance and sing.
ถ้าประธานต่างกันแต่ภาคแสดงเหมือนกัน อาจรวมส่วนที่เป็นประธานเข้าด้วยกันแล้วตัด
ภาคแสดงของประโยคหลงั ออก เชน่
(4) a. Jane likes oranges and Mary likes oranges.
b. Jane and Mary like oranges.
