(5) Intimate. Most informal of all is the intimate register, which rarely

tance between the speakers: family members, roommates, spouses, good
friends. There is little if any concern here for ceremony, precedence,
rank, or correctness. The emphasis is on personality and individualism,
so dialect markers, slang, and fad words are strongest here. Many
intimate registers include a sort of private language, consisting of
phrases or references not shared by outsiders, a kind of two-person or
three-person cant.10 The intimate register is rarely used with groups of 10. ภาษา
