อีกตัวอย่างหนึ่งของเรื่องเล่าทางศาสนาที่เกี่ยวข้องกับต้นกำ�เนิดของมนุษย์คือ เรื่องเล่าการกำ�เนิด
ของอดัมและอีฟนั่นเอง ซึ่งเป็นเรื่องเล่าที่คนส่วนใหญ่เคยได้ยิน โดยในทางศาสนาคริสต์เรื่องเล่าเกี่ยวกับ
การก ำ�เนิดข องภ าษาแ ละก ารส ื่อสารน ั้นม ีปรากฏให้เห็นอ ย่างช ัดเจนในพ ระค ัมภีร์ไบเบิล ภาคพ ันธส ัญญาเก่า
กล่าวถึงการกำ�เนิดของมนุษย์คู่แรกที่ชื่ออดัมและอีฟว่าเกิดจากการสร้างสรรค์ของพระผู้เป็นเจ้า ซึ่งในบท
Genesis หรือปฐมกาล ได้ปรากฏให้เห็นว่าพระองค์ได้ทรงตรัสกับมนุษย์คู่แรกในหลายๆ เรื่อง เช่น เรื่อง
เกี่ยวก ับการท ำ�ให้โลกใบน ี้อุดมส มบรูณ์ไปด ้วยนานาพรรณพ ืชแ ละสัตว์ต ่างๆ
So God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them, male
and female he created them. God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply,
and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds
of the air and over overly living thing that moves upon the earth.’ God said, “See I have given
you every plant yielding seed that is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed

คำ�ตรัสข้างต้นนี้สะท้อนให้เห็นว่าอดัมและอีฟเข้าใจสิ่งที่พระองค์ได้ทรงตรัส นอกจากนั้นแล้ว
อดัมย ังสามารถตั้งช ื่อส ัตว์ต ่างๆ ในวันแ รกที่เขาถ ือก ำ�เนิดม าเลยท ีเดียว
So out of the ground the Lord God formed every animal of the field and every bird of
the air, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man
called each living creature, that was its name. The man gave names to all cattle, and to the
birds of the air, and to every animal of the field… (Oremus Bible Browser, 2012)

ที่พวกเขาถือกำ�เนิดขึ้นมาบนโลกใบนี้ ดังนั้นจึงสรุปได้ว่าศาสนาคริสต์เชื่อว่ามนุษย์ทุกคนเกิดมาพร้อมกับ
ความส ามารถในการพ ูดส ื่อสารและใช้ภาษา
ในขณะเดียวกันในพระคัมภีร์อัลกุรอานของศาสนาอิสลามก็มีเรื่องเล่าเกี่ยวกับการกำ�เนิดของโลก
และม นุษย์เช่นเดียวกัน โดยม ีก ารก ล่าวถ ึงก ารเนิดข องโลกแ ละม นุษย์ ใจความค ร่าวๆ มีอ ยู่ว ่า ในแรกเริ่มนั้น
ยังไม่มีโลกมีเพียงกล่มุ หมอกควันเท่าน้นั แผ่นฟ้าและแผ่นดินเป็นเน้อื เดียวกัน แต่ในภายหลังพระอัลเลาะห์
ได้ทรงแยกแผ่นฟ้าออกจากแผ่นดิน และทรงสร้างโลก จากนั้นพระองค์จึงทรงสร้างมนุษย์คนแรกจาก
ก้อนด ิน และเป่าวิญญาณของพ ระองค์เข้าไปท ำ�ให้มนุษย์ค นแรกถือกำ�เนิดขึ้นม า โดยในต อนนี้ปรากฏอยู่ใน
บทอ ัล-มุมิน ูน อายัตท ี่ 12-14
And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay. Then We placed him as a
sperm-drop in a firm lodging. Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We
made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered
the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allah, the
best of creators. (Quran.com, 2012)
