Jurin attributed domestic and regional economic tribulence as the main drawback
for the promotion of tourism.
However, he has instructed the Tourism Authority of Thailand and its 17 offices
worldwide to pull out all the stops in an effort to increase the number inbound tourists.
He pointed out that tourism officials should focus on opening up new tourist
markets in the Middle East, South Asia, China and Scandinavian countries.
Jurin also pledged information transparency, saying there would be a monthly
disclosure of tourist statistics and foreign exchange generated by tourism.
